I left TL High after my sophomore year. I attended a high school that was created by a group of teachers called Shasta. Shasta was a small privately owned accredited high school of about 30 students and 12 teachers. Only in Marin.
Many of my friends went to Vallecito and Terra Linda and when asked I usually say I went to TL.
I worked in construction as a carpenter for many years. Since I was a kid I wanted to combine architecture and construction. it seems unnatural to separate the two. Jim Burris and Dan Meek helped and inspired my return to school where I took remedial subjects at SF City College at night. 1984 I received a BS in architecture from CAL. I worked for James McDonald and Associates an architectural firm in San Anselmo. James McDonald was like a father to me. I started a design/build business in 1991 in Novato where I became a husband and father.
Of alI the fortunate events God gave me none was as fortunate as when I met Laura, my wife of 31 years. She was and, although we divorced in 2012 in many ways continues to be my life's guide. Laura and I raised 2 wonderful beautiful children in Novato where I operated a small business and Laura was a stay at home mom.
I now live in Santa Rosa. I still design buildings once in a while but most of my work is Construction Management.
I am always excited when I run into someone who graduated from Terra Linda high school. I may or may not know them but I usually find we have shared experiences and stories that shaped who we have become.
