In High School and then in college I was a nationally ranked gymnast. I went to Chico State and then to Sacramento State College. After college I became a Nationally and Internationally ranked womens bodybuilding champion ( before all of the drugs made women bodybuilders look like freaks ). I have a book and fitness video called BODYSCULPTING, written and produced during my bodybuilding days.I was a nursing major in college and then became a sales rep. for a variety of sporting goods lines. I lived in Sacramento until 1980 and moved to Southern California to start Heidi's. I took my nutrition and nursing/health knowledge and in 1980 opened a chain of frozen yogurt stores called Heidi"s Frogen Yozurt Shoppes. I had over 120 stores in 10 states and sold the company in 1990. A few months later I opened my first TIGHT ASSETS boutique. I now have 3 TIGHT ASSETS stores in California. In 2006 I opened THE WORLD NEWSSTAND in Laguna Beach, Calif. It's a world re-nowned newsstand with over 1,000 newspapers and magazines. A fun hobby and both the newsstand and Tight Assets in Laguna Beach look out at the ocean. A nice place to work! I live in Laguna Beach and just LOVE it! I still visit San Rafael often as my parents still live in the house on Loganberry Drive where I grew up! I sit on several boards, the American Heart Association for over 20 years, I'm a trustee on the board of the Laguna Playhouse ( the oldest continuiously running theatre in the U.S. ), and Childrens Hospital of Orange County CHOC and others. I was taught early from my parents to always give back! I work hard and play hard and LOVE to travel!

I loved being on the gymnastics and diving teams and play the Cello in the orchestra. I made lots of friends and to this day I am best friends still with Marie-Louise Nelson. Her parents still live close to my parents so we see each other often on Holidays. She often stops by to visit my parents when shes visiting hers. Still my most thoughtful friend to this day!
One fun memory, Easter break in 1970. Heidi Thalman ( remember her? ) her boyfriend Jay, my boyfriend Kris VanOeveren and I went to the high school late at night during Easter Vacation. We all went to TL. Kris and I were on the gymnastic teams at TL. One of our friends had climbed on the roof of the gym and taken off one of the skylights. He climbed down and opened the trampolines in the gym, then propped open the back door so we could all sneak in. We'd bounce on the trampolines for hours, just having fun. We had been doing this for several nights. On the last night of Easter break, we stopped at Winchells and bought some warm doughnuts and headed for the gym. The back door was open so we went in and started bouncing on the trampolines. We didn't need to turn on the lights as the light from the skylights lit the room up! After an hour or so we saw the back door open and someone saying FREEZE! It was the POLICE! They had their guns drawn and ordered us outside. They asked us our names and we stated them. Heidi said Heidi and I said Heidi, so police asked us to start again, they didn't believe we both had the same names. We were too young to have drivers licenses to prove it. Jay had a drivers license and a car, so the police told us to follow them down to the police station in downtown San Rafael where they called our parents. My boyfriend Kris's parents had never met my parents, but they met each other in the San Rafael police station. My father asked the Chief of Police if they were arresting us for commiting to the deliquency of a high school or for assulting a trampoline. The chief thought that was pretty funny and let us go after a stern scolding. We all went home with our parents. The thing that really made us all mad was that we had left 2 dozen warm Winchells doughnuts in a bag on the gym floor when the police interruped our fun! I can still smell those warm glazed ones.....
